Rothgar NB Pride Flag! He's an ally!

The gender we are presumed to be when we are born, and the administrative classification recorded for us based on that presumption have no bearing on our actual gender. Most people in the world tend to agree that the gender presumed for them is the right one. But there are a lot of people like me, who happen to disagree because their experience of gender is NB/trans/etc, not cis.

For anyone reading who is not aware, the word 'nonbinary' is an umbrella term to describe someone who doesn't identify as a man or a woman. The gender binary is a social concept made up by humans, denoting that there are only two genders. However, it is now widely recognized scientifically that there are important distinctions between sex and gender. It is also important to consider that intersex people exist, which is a third sex. Intersex individuals do not fit into standard definitions of sex or gender identity and are therefore often overlooked by society.

Being NB should not be confused with being agender, as this describes a person with no gender identity.

Thankfully, things are making slow and progressive crawls towards a better future. After 4 decades, I finally got a gender recognition certificate, which means I am legally recognized as NB by most authorities in my country. Sadly, some legal documents will still use your sex as an identifier, but hopefully in time this will change too.
